My Horse

On Christmas day I jumped out of bed and ran like the wind to the Christmas tree.

I looked but there was no horse! I sat down on the chair. Mum came out of bed and said: “Look outside,” and I saw! I was speechless. It was the most beautiful horse I had ever seen. I ran to feel her soft mane. It felt like my hair, nice and smooth. The next sunny day I took her out for a ride.

Mum said: “What did you name her?”

I said: “I named her Starlight”.

“That’s a good name,” said Mum.

I put my helmet on and I took Starlight for a gallop. She was like lighting. Starlight jumped. It was snake!

“Run starlight!! Go! Go home.”

“Why are you back so soon,” said Mum.

“It was a snake!”

“Is starlight all right?” said Mum.

“Yeah!” I took Starlight into her stable. I cleared Starlight’s horse shoes. Then I went back to the house. I had a hot chocolate and then I went to bed.

In the morning at 5 o’clock I leapt out of my bed and ran to the kitchen to have some breakfast. Then I ran to the stables to see how Starlight was going. She was up and ready to have a run, so I put the saddle on her coat and placed the reins on Starlight. I took her out to the green paddock. She jumped one and a half metres high. I took her back to her stable. I walked slowly to the house. Mum said: “there                                                                                                                                                                               is a steeple chase on tomorrow, do you want to go?”

“Yeah” I said.

The next day was perfect. I got dressed at four o’clock. Mum got Starlight into the trailer. We were off. We finally got to Wollongong. The jumps were ready. Starlight was ready to go.

“On your mark! Get set! Go!” Said the judge

“Starlight. Run like the wind,” I said.

She jumped all of them beautifully. Starlight came first. We drove home and that’s the story of Starlight and me.
